Sarawak River Cruise in Kuching Malaysia

Sarawak River Cruise

Sarawak River runs through the middle of the city of Kuching. A number of hotels including Hilton and Grand Margherita are located at the banks of the River.

As night draws, the riverfront is transformed into a night market with a small stall selling toys, local delights, souvenirs and drinks. Weekends in Kuching attracts large crowds from people visiting the surrounding areas.

In the daytime, the Sarawak river cruise is a great way to enjoy local views from the River. Fort Margherita is located across the river from the main city area. A boat ride costing RM 2 and a brief walk through a residential neighbourhood take you to Fort Margherita and Istana.

A cruise in the Sarawak River costs around RM 70. A single-engine boat ride costs around RM 18 and you can enjoy one hour tour of the river including the Kuching Mosque, Old docks along the River and Istana. (Royal Palace)

During my stay in Kuching, I stayed at Fort Margherita Hotel. The outdoor pool and open area near the water offer nice views of the River. I highly recommended this hotel if you are planning to visit Kuching.
