Family-Friendly Hotels In Kuala Lumpur Malaysia

Kuala Lumpur is one of the most visited destinations in the ASEAN region attracting over 27 million visitors in 2018. Malaysia is a popular family holiday destination for many honeymooners and family travellers from middle-east. With diverse natural landscapes, a mature well-developed industry and cheap public transport, Malaysia is a popular destination for many European backpackers and digital nomads.

I have been travelling to Malaysia for over 15 years and visited most of the major cities. Kuala Lumpur stays one of my favourite destinations with plenty to do with the entire family. During this time frame, I have stayed at over 60 hotels in various localities of Kuala Lumpur. I will short-list some of my favourite hotels ideal for family travel.

Ambassador Row Serviced Apartments by Lanson Place - Jalan Ampang

I have stayed at this establishment over 15 times and this is definitely one of the best places to stay if you are travelling with the family. The first feature that I love about this establishment is the room size, which is probably the biggest you will find in Kuala Lumpur city. Most one-bedroom apartments are over 80 sq.m with a separate lounge, small kitchenette and a bedroom. Recent refurbishments have upgraded the furniture and added new electronics to most of the apartments. 

The reception team is very friendly and have upgraded my room in the last 5 stays because of my frequency of visitors to the establishment. Make sure to include breakfast in the package while booking your stay at this establishment. 

A pool on the ground floor offers a great place to splash and spent time with kids. There is a nice massage place and cafe on the premises. Since this establishment is very popular with Middle-Eastern families, two popular Kuala Lumpur restaurants, Hadraul Maut and Sahara Tent are located at a walking distance from the serviced apartments. 

Furama Hotel Bukit Bintang Kuala Lumpur

Furama Hotel is probably one of the most popular hotels with families travelling to Kuala Lumpur because of its ideal location and excellent rates for a 4-star hotel. Advance bookings can fetch over a 30% discount on most platforms. This makes Furama a great value for money.

The benefits of staying at Furama include excellent breakfast and very easy access to Berjaya Times Square Shopping Mall and Low Yat Plaza, which are located at 5 minutes walk from the hotel. 

For foodies, the Pudu area behind Furama Hotel is a wonderland. I have explored this area on foot and found amazing food joints serving a good mix of Chinese-Malay dishes. Sek Yu En is one of the oldest Chinese hotels in Pudu located on the same street as Furama Hotel. 

The hotel is built in 1980 and shows the sign of aging. However, excellent service and price make it a popular choice. 

CONCORDE HOTEL KLCC

Concorde Hotel is one of my all-time favourite hotels because of its great service, ideal location, affordable rates and amazing breakfast. Concorde definitely serves one of the best breakfast in town. 

Advance booking can fetch a rate of US60 for a deluxe room, which makes it a great choice for a short or long stay.

The hotel is located next to the light rail train station which connects to KL Sentral and Bukit Bintang. The Menara KL is located across the road from Concorde Hotel. I have stayed at this establishment over 10 times in the last 15 years and found the staff to be very efficient, safe and responsive. 

The famous Hard Rock Cafe is located in the same building as the Concorde Hotel. Enjoy live music and drink in the lobby on a weekend night. The restaurant on premises run special deals all through the week. 

This establishment is highly recommended.
